Reviews pre-2016

From March 2016 ‘Reviews’ will be included on my ‘Writing’ page.

My first ever piece of published – and paid for – writing was a review, entitled Opera as Film.  It concerned the film of Don Giovanni which had shown at The Watershed in Bristol.

Since moving to Cumbria I have regularly been invited to write reviews for the Cumberland News, either by the paper itself or by the organisers of the performances.  I have also written reviews for http://www.cumbrialive.co.uk, the CN Group events website.  This includes concerts and plays at Theatre by the Lake, the Old Laundry Theatre, the Sands Centre Carlisle, and performances at Carlisle Music Festival, Lanercost Festival and by local choirs.

I also contribute restaurant and food reviews to Trip Advisor and to Harden’s.  I am passionate about encouraging people to take children to ‘the arts’ and also about good customer service.  Whilst a review is a subjective opinion, I try to be as objective and honest as possible and will try to word criticism positively.

Reviews (and previews) for 2015 include:

January – Collabro at the Sands

March – Sunday Night at the Sands (Staged Right Youth Theatre)

March – Brampton Chamber Choir

April – Wordsworth’s House, Cockermouth:  http://www.cumbrialive.co.uk/home/days-out-in-cumbria-wordsworth-house-1.1209864
